Silbury Hill is a 40-metre (130-ft.) high man-made chalk mound near Avebury in the
English county of Wiltshire, lying at grid reference SU100685. Coordinates: 51°24′56″N
1°51′27″W / 51.41556°N 1.8575°W / 51.41556; -1.8575
Silbury Hill, part of the complex of Neolithic monuments around Avebury (which includes the Avebury ring and West Kennet Long Barrow), is the tallest prehistoric man-made mound in Europe and one of the world's largest. Its purpose however, is still highly debated. There are several other Neolithic monuments in the area, including Stonehenge
Silbury Hill-MYSTIC PLACES
One of the great enigmas of planet Earth revolves around a collection of approximately 15,000 pre-Columbian artifacts, the ancient carved glyph rock library known as the Ica Stones.
They are carved stones supposedly found in a cave in the coastal desert city of Ica, Peru. Ica is a relatively small area, some 300 kilometers from Lima. In the 1960's a farmer claimed to have found piles and piles of rocks deep in various gorges and caves not far from the Nazca Lines. Some were also buried slightly under the ground. The native farmer produced only bags of stones at first, but later, he produced literally thousands of the artifacts. For some time he made a good living selling the stones to tourists. The farmer became something of a celebrity. Word traveled in the archeological world, and experts descended on Ica.
As the story goes ... The Peruvian government took an interest in the stones. They did not Peru to become another Egypt, overrun with diggers and robbers. They had enough of them already. No one knows what was said to the farmer but after arrest and confinement, he suddenly admitted in writing that the stones were hoaxed and that he had carved the stones himself. He was going to bilk the tourists and never realized it would get out of hand. Read More

The Baghdad Battery, sometimes referred to as the Parthian Battery, is the common
name for a number of artifacts created in Mesopotamia, possibly during the Parthian
or Sassanid period (the early centuries AD). These jars were probably discovered
in 1936 in the village of Khuyut Rabbou'a, near Baghdad, Iraq. These artifacts came
to wider attention in 1938 when Wilhelm König, the German director of the National
Museum of Iraq, found the objects in the museum's collections. In 1940 König published
a paper speculating that they may have been galvanic cells, perhaps used for electroplating
gold onto silver objects.[1] This interpretation continues to be considered as at
least a hypothetical possibility. If correct, the artifacts would predate Alessandro
Volta's 1800 invention of the electrochemical cell by more than a millennium. Read

The Antikythera mechanism an-ti-ki-theer-uh), is an ancient mechanical calculator
(also described as the first known mechanical computer) designed to calculate astronomical
positions. It was discovered in the Antikythera wreck off the Greek island of Antikythera,
between Kythera and Crete, in 1901. Subsequent investigation, particularly in 2006,
dated it to about 150–100 BC; and hypothesised that it was on board a ship that sank
en route from the Greek island of Rhodes to Rome. Technological artifacts of similar
complexity did not reappear until a thousand years later.
Jacques-Yves Cousteau visited the wreck for the last time in 1978, but found no more remains of the Antikythera Mechanism. Professor Michael Edmunds of Cardiff University who led the study of the mechanism said: "This device is just extraordinary, the only thing of its kind. The design is beautiful, the astronomy is exactly right. The way the mechanics are designed just makes your jaw drop. Whoever has done this has done it extremely carefully." He added: "...in terms of historic and scarcity value, I have to regard this mechanism as being more valuable than the Mona Lisa."
The device is displayed in the Bronze Collection of the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, accompanied by a reconstruction made and offered to the museum by Derek de Solla Price. Other reconstructions are on display at the American Computer Museum in Bozeman, Montana and the Children's Museum of Manhattan in New York. Read More
The Nazca Lines are a series of geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert, a high arid plateau that stretches more than 80 km (50 miles) between the towns of Nazca and Palpa on the Pampas de Jumana in Peru. Although some local geoglyphs resemble Paracas motifs, these are largely believed to have been created by the Nazca culture between 200 BCE and 700 CE. There are hundreds of individual figures, ranging in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks or orcas, llamas, and lizards.
The lines are shallow designs in the ground where the reddish pebbles that cover the surrounding landscape have been removed, revealing the whitish earth underneath. Hundreds are simple lines or geometric shapes, and more than seventy are natural or human figures. The largest are over 200 m across. Scholars differ in interpreting what the lines were for but generally ascribe religious significance to them. "The geometric ones could indicate the flow of water or be connected to rituals to summon water. The spiders, birds, and plants could be fertility symbols. Other possible explanations include: irrigation schemes, giant astronomical calendars, or landing for spaceships."
The dry, windless, stable climate of the plateau has preserved the lines to this day, for the most part. Extremely rare changes in weather may temporarily alter the general designs. Read More

The Voynich manuscript is a mysterious, undeciphered illustrated book. It is thought to have been written in the 15th or 16th century. The author, script, and language of the manuscript remain unknown.
Over its recorded existence, the Voynich manuscript has been the object of intense study by many professional and amateur cryptographers, including some top American and British codebreakers of World War II fame (all of whom failed to decrypt a single word). This string of failures has turned the Voynich manuscript into a famous subject of historical cryptology, but it has also given weight to the theory that the book is simply an elaborate hoax — a meaningless sequence of arbitrary symbols.
The book is named after the Polish-American book-dealer Wilfrid M. Voynich, who acquired it in 1912. As of 2005, the Voynich manuscript is item MS 408 in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Yale University. The first facsimile edition was published in 2005. Read More

This object (shown in sketch) was found in 1898 in a tomb at Saqquara, Egypt and
was later dated as having been created near 200 BCE. As airplanes were unknown in
the days when it was found, it was thrown into a box marked "wooden bird model" and
then stored in the basement of the Cairo museum.Read More
Precolombian Airplane Models
Is the concept of an airplane limited to Egypt? That doesn't seem to be the case. Gold trinkets were found in an area covering Central America and coastal areas of South America, estimated to belong to a period between 500 and 800 CE, but since they are made from gold, accurate dating is impossible and based essentially on stratigraphy which may be deceptive. However, we can safely say that these gold objects are more than 1000 years old.
